I'm working the polls today and the best quote so far came from the two high school girls working our polling place, talking about where to get one's hair done:

The one Hispanic girl advised a particular place but warned, "... but they use hella hair spray there, 'cause they're like hella beaner."

"Oh yeah? How much do they use? Like, hella?""

I've seen people eat lunch while driving, put on makeup while driving, even brush their teeth while driving, but until 15 minutes ago I'd never seen someone play the harmonica while driving.

last weekend I was sitting in my room working on my Legal Writing take-home final. I could hear kids playing outside, and it was neat to hear that they were just having fun pretending. When I was a kid tow trucks were mostly white. Now they're mostly yellow with blue writing. Funny how fashions change.

Also, yesterday I saw the second female cab driver of my life. I'd be willing to bet that taxi driving is the single most gender imbalanced profession. After, you know, wet nurse.

Yesterday I was helping a second grader named Charles with subtraction-with-borrowing and he was getting quite frustrated, when:

"I need some mayonnaise."

"Yeah... mayo can be awfully tasty, but why right now?"

"Because mayonnaise makes me smarter."
